I also try to stick with the "Never miss 2 days in a row rule" and while obviously I sometimes need to miss more than 2 days, I think this is one of the reasons I've been able to stick with it for so long. It's also refreshing to see someone talk about acknowledging priorities and limitations, rather than suggesting we should just power through. Sometimes a break is the best thing you can do for yourself. And I've also found that my language skills actually seem a bit stronger when I come back from a break anyway. Also, I'm glad to hear your dog is alright!

Hi, Tess. Sorry for the late reply, your comment must have slipped by.

So happy to hear I'm not the only one who sets arbitrary rules for myself (and breaks them once in a while 😅).

I totally agree that sometimes when you come back to it, it seems easier. It's funny because I actually notice this in my students as well. Sometimes after a break, they come back and it seems like all the pieces have clicked together.

Thanks for your kind words about my dog. She's fine now.🥰

What a comforting post! Honestly, the compassionate take on language-learning in the midst of leading a busy and demanding life hit all the right chords this week for me especially! As did the beautiful quote about joyful learning. Can I ever stand to take that to heart, as I'm sure so many others can! Sometimes, it can be hard to make things fun and light, and there are probably many more successes to be had when we stop taking everything so seriously. Another wonderful post! Thank you for the fantastic read. (And I'm so glad your dog is OK!! 🐾)
