You make a great point with focusing on building positive momentum! For me, it's always been doing something challenging and accomplishing it. Years ago when I was more actively learning Japanese, I would have mini conversations with native speakers and eventually lead an interview for an anthropology paper that I actually pulled off—asking and roughly following along. That was so huge for me (and now something I'm trying to build back).
